None of these areas have treated water, and depend on surface or rain water

Communities around Grabouw who did not have access to treated water were identified. These include areas around Lebanon, Nuweberg and Nuwebegin.

These areas depend on surface and rainwater. As electricity is so expensive, open fires are often used to boil water for drinking.

LifeStraws as filters at point of use would be excellent adjuncts to provide clean and safe water for these communities.

Strand Rotary Club will be working with the SafeWater project to help with the introduction and monitoring of LifeStraws into these Communities.
